This very versatile wardrobe piece has a high waistband that works better than elastic for keeping your chemise or shirt tucked in and looking neat. The double eyelets with lacing in the back allow for variable fitting. Wear two skirts with a bodice--tuck one up as pictured to show the contrasting skirt underneath. The next day, switch the skirts and reverse the bodice for a whole new look from the same outfit! (Many of our bodices reverse to black.) Order by your natural waist size.
This gathered skirt is one of the primary pieces in many of our wench outfits, like those pictured at left. 100% cotton with a weave like linen, the skirt comes in eight vibrant colors. In Renaissance times, a serving wench who was skilled might earn sufficient tips to buy two skirts. She would then wear them both together--tucking the top skirt up under her bodice on one side (see picture) to show off the prosperity her serving skills had brought her.

NOTE: The larger sizes are custom hand crafted, and require additional fabric. Fabric costs have also increased. The factory that makes this item had to choose whether to discontinue making plus sizes or increase the price. They chose to add $20 for over 2X or 40” or more waist and continue to offer their products in custom plus sizes not available from other manufacturers.
